Autumn Quiet Day
Saturday 7 October, 09.00-15.00
In October we'll be offering an Autumn Quiet Day here at the church, led by Chris Peterson and Nick the Chaplain.
Chris worships here, is an ordained pastor and a trained spiritual director. here he tells us a bit about the day:
“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:31
These are the words of Jesus, spoken to his disciples in the midst of a very hectic schedule. In fact, Mark tells us it was so busy, "they did not even have a chance to eat."
Jesus saw their need for rest and renewal and invited them to come away, slow down, and spend some quiet time together with him.
Perhaps this invitation speaks into your life situation, and you're feeling the need come away to a quiet place, for rest and renewal.
The day will include guided contemplative practices inviting us to be attentive to God and to ourselves, group Lectio Divina, (praying the Scriptures) and an opportunity to walk and share with a fellow pilgrim in the beautiful surroundings of the church.
We look forward to sharing in this day together and trust that as we open ourselves to God and one another we will be blessed and encouraged.
Grace and peace.
Chris
Please register by email with Nick by 1 October if you plan to be there.
We'll start with coffee at 09.00, to get going at 09.30 prompt.
There will be a chance to eat, so you'll need to bring along a packed lunch, as well as warm clothes - and an umbrella (just in case).
Meanwhile, here's a prayer we'll use on the day, which can be used any day:
God help us to live slowly:
To move simply:
To look softly:
To allow emptiness:
To let the heart create for us.
